Sukhdeo Mahto (40) is farmer from village Lochar, Hazaribag, He has constantly tried to develop solutions to everyday problems faced by farmers like him. Tough is poverty restricts his investment in his ideas, yet he manages to squeeze out some money from the earning of his wife, who works as a daily worker. His wife, unconditionally, has supported his beliefs both normally and fiscally.

          His innovations include ‘Jhoola Pump’ to pump water from source to a higher level, new designs of ploughs, windmill operated water lifting device etc.

Jagdeo Singh Bhogta (40) is a farmer and a herbal healer from Jharkhand. The output from his field is only sufficient from his family’s daily needs and he supplements it through earning wages as a daily labourer.

            He has been administering herbal medicines to the villagers from human health problems. Through he is poor but does not chare any money in return of his services. The blessings of people who get cured from is medicines are his reward. He gained this knowledge from his father, who also used to practice herbal medicines. Among many medicines that he administers, people come to him most for most for the medication he has for stomach ulcers.
