| Objective
of the Department is to develop farmers by dairy
development activities and to raise the milk
consumption by the people up to the extent of
210 gms/ day. |

| Potential
of the district in such sector |
To
increase the milk potential in the district,
there is a Dist. Milk Producers Cooperative
Union Ltd. and a Milk Supply Scheme situated in
the Dist. To have a surplus milk in the
villages, Dept. has to give some subsidies on
cattle purchases. Presently Dept. gives subsidy
on cattle feed, green fodders etc.
Department has also planned to train farmers at
villages.
For the collection of milk from villages, in
each and every potential village, there is a
primary milk cooperative society and through
which milk collection is done.

Milk
supply scheme has been started on 30th
Nov. 2001 after 5 years of closing. Now
300-400 liters of milk is collected per
day and is sold in the market. Farmers
of the district are adopting dairy
schemes very happily
