| Introduction |
Leprosy
is one of the diseases that has struck fear into
humanity since time immemorial. It has always
being seen as part of humanities burden of
misery because of the permanent progressive
disabilities. It causes the intense social
stigma and discrimination. It's victim suffer.
For ages it remained a disease without hope.
Today it is possible to conquer leprosy.

of the department |

To
accelerate the progress towards the goal
of elimination of leprosy in the
district by voluntary and detecting
hidden leprosy cases from the large prevalence
pool, confirming the diagnostic and
administering the MDT to confirm cases
in integrated environment. |

Intensive
health education of the community to
increase the awareness about leprosy for
promoting voluntary reporting, early
detection and regular treatment of
cases. |

i.e. Wall writing in all PHCs, Hoarding in
important public places, Cinema Slides, Posters
showing symptoms of TB, Distribution of
pamphlets in villeges. Training to AnganBadi
workers, involvement of NGOs.
